Authentication error printing from Mac applications
When printing from Mac applications like Adobe CS3/CS4 the following error can appear: /usr/libexec/cups/backend/hotfolder failed
Cause
This problem is caused by the access rights on the hotfolder of the queue that is used for printing on the computer hosting the RIP. The CUPS printing system launches the hotfolder backend which can’t get access writes to write the print job.
Resolution
Locate the hotfolder of the queue. The location of the queue its hotfolder is shown in the “Workflow” tab of the queue setup dialog.
When opening the folder information of the hotfolder you’ll probably notice that the group and guest access rights are not read & write. Change them to read & write and close the window. If the guest user is not listed add it.
