How to use the Barbieri LFP QB with PrintFactory RIP
Registering and Updating Firmware
- Download Barbieri Gateway and register the device.
- Check for the latest firmware, which is self-explanatory through the software. It automatically recognizes unregistered devices upon connection.
Preparing for Measurements
- When measuring, ensure to cut off the grey border with clean, straight cuts.
- Tape down all edges neatly, leaving no edges sticking up.
- Use the appropriate holder for the type of media being measured:
- Clear transmissive holder for backlit media. Turn on transmissive mode in Calibrator.
- Reflective holder for normal thin media such as vinyl.
- Heavy sample holder for heavy media like acrylic. Refer to the user guide for detailed instructions.
- Setting Up in Calibrator
- In the Calibrator preferences, adjust the measuring modes according to your requirements:
- Fast Mode: This is the default mode of the Spectro LFP qb. The measuring head lies on the target, and the surface is scanned rapidly.
- Contactless Mode: Similar to fast mode, but the measuring head does not touch the surface of the target. Ideal for sticky and sensitive materials.
- Head Up/Down Mode: In this mode, the measuring head moves up and down between each measurement. Use this for sensitive materials to prevent scratches on the surface of the target. By configuring these settings in Calibrator, users can tailor the measurement process to suit the specific characteristics of their materials, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Pre-Measurement Checks
- Clean the white calibration tile located underneath the detachable measuring head using a lint-free cloth.
- Remove the UV filter held by a magnet under the white tile and ensure it is free of dust. Clean with a lint-free cloth, avoiding fluids.
Using the Measuring Head
- The measuring head is detachable, allowing you to bring it to a sample for LAB value measurement, particularly useful for spots.
- Exercise caution to prevent inadvertently dislodging magnetically held components mentioned above, as they can get lost.
Connection Considerations
- Connect the device via USB on the back of the PC. Avoid using the front USB ports, as they may lead to poor connections.
- Storage
- Make sure to use the black fabric cover to put over the device when it is not in use. It prevents dust gathering in the device
