Creating a Circle from Three Points

You can create a circle or a circular path by defining three points in your document.

How to create a circle by selecting three points
    1. Select the Circle tool   from the Tools panel.
    2. Click at three positions on your document.
        A circle is drawn that passes through all three points.
        To create a circular path, shift-click the points.

How to create a circle by entering numerical values
    1. Select the Circle tool   from the Tools panel.
    2. Define three points by entering the coordinates in the control panel.
    3. Click Apply.
        To create a circular path, select the option Circle Part.

Creating a Polygon or Star

How to create a polygon or star by dragging
    1. Select the Circle tool from the Tools panel and hold down the mouse button.
    2. Select the Polygon   tool .
    3. Click the Polygon   or Star   button on the control panel.
    4. Draw a polygon or star by dragging diagonally until the object has the desired size.

How to create a polygon or star by entering numerical values
    1. Select the Circle tool from the Tools panel and hold down the mouse button.
    2. Select the Polygon   tool .
    3. Click the Polygon   or Star   button on the control panel.
    4. Specify the size (radius and number of corners).
    5. Optional: Specify the desired angle.
    6. Click Apply.

Creating a Rectangle or Square

How to create a rectangle by dragging
    1. Select the Rectangle tool   from the Tools panel.
    2. Draw a rectangle by dragging diagonally until the rectangle has the desired size.
    • To create a square, hold down the Shift key while dragging.
    • To start from the center point instead of the upper left corner, hold down the ALT key (Windows) or Option key (MacOS) while dragging.
How to create a rectangle by entering numerical values
    1. Select the Rectangle tool   from the Tools panel.
    2. Fill in the desired top-left corner values.
    3. Fill in the desired width and height.
    4. Click Apply.
    To create a square, click the Link symbol   : both values will be the same.

Creating a Sketch

You can use the Sketch tool   to draw lines.
There are three different sketch modes:


How to create a hairline in freehand mode
    1. Select the Sketch tool from the Tools panel.
    2. Click the Freehand mode button on the control panel.
    3. Position the mouse pointer where you want the line to begin, and drag to where you want the line to end.

How to draw a stroke
  1. Select the Sketch tool from the Tools panel.
  2. Click the Stroke mode button on the control panel.
  3. Enter the desired minimum and maximum pen width.
  4. Position the mouse pointer where you want the stroke line to begin, and drag to where you want the line to end.
  5. Optional: Select the option Remove Overlap to remove all overlaps and intersections.
How to draw a calligraphy path
  1. Select the Sketch tool from the Tools panel.
  2. Click the Calligraphic mode button on the control panel.
  3. Enter the desired minimum and maximum pen width.
  4. Enter an angle.
  5. Position the mouse pointer where you want the calligraphic line to begin, and drag to where you want the line to end.
  6. Optional: Select the option Remove Overlap to remove all overlaps and intersections.

Creating an Ellipse or Pie

An ellipse is drawn in a virtual rectangle. By defining the rectangle, the maximal ellipse is calculated and drawn within this rectangle.

How to create an ellipse or pie by dragging
    1. Select the Circle tool from the Tools panel and hold down the mouse button.
    2. Select the Ellipse tool   from the Tools panel.
    3. Drag the ellipse until it has the desired size.
        To create a pie, drag the point marker displayed at the most-right center of the circle.

How to create an ellipse or pie by entering numerical values
    1. Select the Circle tool from the Tools panel and hold down the mouse button.
    2. Select the Ellipse tool   from the Tools panel.
    3. Enter the position and size of the ellipse on the control panel.
    4. Click Apply.
        To create a pie, fill in the angles and select the option Wedge.
