Some applications require a customized black composition to achieve the desired visual black appearance on the final substrate. To simplify this process, the Profile Variant should include a dedicated workflow that allows users to print, evaluate, and apply a custom black without leaving the profiling environment.
Complete the profiling process as usual until the profile has been successfully generated. Once finished, edit the desired Profile Variant.
Activate option "Custom Black Point" and Select "Print Custom Black Target" option, available inside the Profile Variant. This will generate a target containing multiple composite black combinations designed for visual evaluation.
Print the generated target using the selected profile variant and process it through the normal workflow. The target should be produced using the same media and production conditions that will be used for final jobs. The job will send to the RIP.
After printing, compare all black patches and determine which composite black provides the best visual result in terms of density, neutrality, and overall appearance for the specific application.
Each patch must contain:
Choose the preferred patch from the printed target. You must manually enter the selected values after the evaluation in the "Custom Black Point" section. The "Optimize" option should not be selected, as this option will attempt to compose the black combination while maintaining the color proportions.
Apply the selected CMYK combination as the Custom Black for the current Profile Variant (Option OK). The variant should immediately use these values for future output.
