In this page we'll learn how to read the graphs before making any changes to the settings.
Preview Chart
The top chart reflects in pixels the distribution of the dots and in particular the dot transitions and interleave between Small, Medium and Large Dots. It is a visual representation of the data changes reflected in the charts below.
The preview screen on the Right Top shows a larger snap shot of a particular area of the Main Preview screen on the left.
Dot Distribution Graph
We first explain how to read the chart which then will allow us to interprete any value changes.
We start with the bottom graph: Dot Distribution Chart
- Red line = Small Dot
- Green line = Medium Dot
- Blue line = Large Dot
Y axis -> coverage of dots and X axis: ink usage.
In the example below: when starting to put ink down, all ink usage <20% is only made up of small dots, form 21% onwards, Medium drops are introduced.
At 40% ink, we only use S and M dots with a distribution of 60%: small and 30% medium.
At 100% only large drops are used.
The Dot Count Graph - middle graph
The Dot Distribution graph is translated into a histogram representing the Dot Count, taking into account the Dot % or Max amount.
Explained in the Graph below, in the orange triangle, you see that the Volume of M dot is constant, while the amount of S dot declines and the amount of L dot increases. The ceiling of the S and M graph is defined by the Max amount.
