The RIP, Editor, Calibrator and licensing system use network communication to exchange information even if the installation is done on an isolated not networked computer. This is done using the internal virtual network adapter called the ‘localhost’. Firewalls and Anti-virus software can block or disturb those communication channels and make the software not to see the other components. We guarantee that our software is delivered virus-free. Windows / macOS firewallThe installer automatically reconfigures the default Windows and macOS firewall to allow the communication between the components. This is done by adding the applications to the list of trusted application with a limited number of ports. This will not disable the firewall or create a security hole. Other firewalls and anti-virus softwareFor these firewalls and anti-virus software you must manually add the applications to the trusted or exception list. As this is limited to selected applications and ports this will not create a security hole. Known firewalls and anti-virus software requiring such a change are Norton Anti-Virus and Trend Micro OfficeScan. Add:
For the following applications:
Add the above ports and applications to the exceptions or trusted list. CheckTo see if indeed the firewall of anti-virus software is disrupting the communication you can temporarily disable them. If this resolves the problem enable them again and add the above listed exceptions to their configurations. LicenseServerLicenseServer acts as the proxy between the local installation and the cloud account. The proxy provides a VPN like connection to your secure data store in the cloud. More information about the external ports that need to be open to LicenseServer see Configuring cloud connection for secure environments. |
