Importing and Exporting Spot Color libraries

Importing and Exporting Spot Color libraries

There are reasons why you may want to export a spot color library from a PMM. If you want to use the same spot colors colors across other pmm or export to be used as a global spot library.
To export a spot color library:
1. In Calibrator under the PMM, expand the spot colors tab and click export.
2. Provide a name for the spot color library you're exporting and designate a location for saving it. If you intend to make this library universally accessible across all PMMs, you can choose to add it to the libraries folder. Folder location:
PC: C:\Users\Public\PrintFactory\Libraries
MAC: Users/Shared/PrintFactory/Libraries
3. Choose the elements you wish to export, considering the impact on your workflow. Below are the options available:
CIE+ Device colors: This choice includes both the LAB and CMYK values for the library. If imported into another PMM, it maintains the CMYK breakdown including specific adjustments made from tuning, potentially leading to color inconsistencies. This may be used if you wish for the exact amount of CMYK from the spots to be used. Noting that when you have another printer, the breakdown for how to make that color is different.
CIE LAB - Only includes the original LAB Value, it's advisable to export CIELAB when importing into a PMM on another printer and let the destination PMM recalculate the CMYK values.
Device colors: This option exports only the CMYK values specific to the selected printer and would include adjustments made to the CMYK from Tuning.
