Kornit QPP - Output Component

Kornit QPP - Output Component

The Kornit QPP output component exports artwork and a matching KSF job ticket to a folder watched by Kornit QPP. Use it when QPP handles the next stage of production. Successful export confirms that files were published, not that QPP collected or printed them.

Before you start

Install the Kornit device in the local PrintFactory RIP and refresh its configuration so its modes and pallet sizes are available. Create writable output folders that both Workflow and QPP can access. Paths written into the KSF are absolute; a macOS mount path is not automatically translated to a Windows path.

Configure the component

• Add Kornit QPP from the Output components and connect it to your flow.
• Set Output to the local or mounted-network folder watched by QPP.
• Select Printer, Mode and Pallet. The choices come from the local Kornit device configuration. If a list is empty, refresh the device configuration in RIP.
• Choose Format and enter the output Name without a file extension.
• Connect OK for successful export and Fail for error handling.

Artwork format

• Original: copies single-page TIFF or PNG source files unchanged. Edits made to the working document are not included in these copies. All other supported inputs, including JPEG, Photoshop and PDF, are automatically converted to PNG at 300 dpi. If conversion is not possible, the job fails.
• TIFF: renders the working document pages to TIFF at 300 dpi.
• PNG: renders the working document pages to PNG at 300 dpi.

Each exported document page receives an artwork file and a KSF with the same base name. Multipage conversion adds p1, p2, etc., unless Name includes {PageNumber}. The component exports document pages; imposed Workflow layouts are not exported.

Names and copies

Name defaults to {DocumentName}. You can also use {JobName}, {PageNumber}, {JobGuid} and Input keys such as {Key:OrderNumber}. For example, {DocumentName}-{Key:OrderNumber} creates names such as design-123.png and design-123.ksf. Use unique names when exporting several documents. Existing files and duplicate output names cause an error; they are not overwritten.

The Input key Copies sets the KSF copy count. It defaults to 1 and must be an integer from 1 to 10000.

Add a neck tag

Enable Add Neck Tag to include a second artwork file and a Tag strip in the KSF.

• Set Image Source to the name of an Input key containing the full path to the neck-tag artwork. For example, enter TagImage when that key contains the artwork path.
• Choose an existing, writable neck-tag Output Folder.
• Set XOffsetMM, YOffsetMM, WidthMM and HeightMM in nonnegative millimeters. Zero dimensions leave sizing to QPP.
• Choose Rotate (None, 90 or 180) and set Mirror, XCenter, YCenter and KeepRatio as required.

Neck-tag artwork is copied in its original PNG, TIFF, JPEG or Photoshop format and named <main name> - necktag.<extension>. Its KSF TagYLocation is Top. When Add Neck Tag is disabled, these settings are ignored and no Tag strip is written.

Variables

All component settings support Variables. For example, bind Mode to {Key:KornitMode} or Necktag XOffsetMM to {Key:TagOffset}. Neck-tag Variable labels start with Necktag. A Variable for Image Source must resolve to the name of the key containing the artwork path.

Output and troubleshooting

The selected mode supplies the KSF settings and Main strip. The component updates the artwork path, pallet and copies and replaces any previous additional strips with the configured neck tag. Placement and transformations in the mode remain QPP settings.

All artwork is fully written before any KSF is published. Configure QPP to watch for KSF files. Source artwork and cached modes are left unchanged.

For an error, follow the Fail connection and inspect the job journal. Check that the printer, mode and pallet still exist, the output folders are writable, required keys and artwork are available, Copies is valid, and the filenames are unique. Failed conversion or validation does not publish a new KSF.
