Media compensation caused media size to exceed printer width
When working with media size compensation in PrintFactory, it’s important to understand how compensation affects the overall media width. If the compensation value increases the media size beyond the "full width" setting, it will cause you to be unable to print and you will get this error. This article explains how to properly adjust your media size to avoid these problems.
Solution:
To prevent this, you should select a media size slightly smaller than "full width." Here’s how:
Identify the Media Size Compensation:
- Determine the compensation value applied to your media. This value will increase the width of your media.
- This can be found in Layout -> Edit ->Media Size Compensation while your PMM is selected.
Create a New Media Size:
- Based on the compensation value, create a new media size that is slightly less than the full width of your print.
- Ensure that when the compensation is applied, the media size does not exceed the full width of your printer.
- In the RIP -> Right Click on your Printer -> Edit Media Size and click the + button and make your new size.
Select the New Media Size:
- Use this new, adjusted media size in your print settings to avoid issues.
Example:
If your full media width is 60 inches and the compensation adds 0.5 inches, create a new media size of 59.5 inches. This way, when the 0.5-inch compensation is applied, the total width will be exactly 60 inches.
