Moving PrintFactory License Server to Another PC
When you need to move the License Server to a new PC, the PrintFactory license must first be deactivated on the current PC and then reactivated on the new one. This is because the License Server in the Cloud stores details about the PC where it’s currently activated.
Step 1: Deactivating the License
Before you begin: Ensure you have access to the PC where the license is currently active.
Open Software Manager:
- Windows: Navigate to
C:\Program Files\PrintFactory\Software Manager.exe
- Mac: Go to A
pplications folder/PrintFactory/Software Manager.app
Deactivating on Windows:
- Launch Software Manager.
- Select the key icon in the top left corner.
- Choose Deactivate License and follow the prompts:
Deactivate License -> Next -> Finish
Deactivating on Mac:
Open Software Manager.
Select Help from the menu.
Choose Deactivate License and follow the prompts:
Deactivate License -> Next -> Finish
Once the license is deactivated, it can be activated on the new PC.
Step 2: Activating the License on the New PC
To activate the license on the new PC, you’ll need the login credentials for your PrintFactory Hub account.
Open Software Manager on the new PC:
- Windows:
C:\Program Files\PrintFactory\Software Manager.exe
- Mac: Applications Folder -> PrintFactory Folder -> Software Manager
app
Click Activate. This will automatically open the Hub in your browser.
Login to your PrintFactory account at:
PrintFactory Hub Login
Once logged in, the system will automatically retrieve the necessary details to activate the license on the new PC.

Step 3: Updating IP Address Settings (If Needed)
After moving the license server to a new PC, other computers on your network may need to be updated with the new server's IP address to maintain their connection.
When do you need to update IP addresses?
- If PrintFactory on other computers was previously configured with the specific IP address of the old license server PC
- If other computers can't automatically find the new license server
How to Find Your New PC's IP Address
On Windows:
- Press
Windows key + R
to open the Run dialog - Type
cmd
and press Enter to open Command Prompt - Type
ipconfig
and press Enter - Look for "IPv4 Address" under your network connection (usually starts with 192.168 or 10.0)
- Write down this IP address (example: 192.168.1.100)
On Mac:
- Click the Apple menu and select "System Preferences"
- Click "Network"
- Select your active network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
- Your IP address will be displayed on the right side (example: 192.168.1.100)
- Write down this IP address
Updating Other Computers with the New IP Address
On each computer that needs to connect to the license server:
- Open PrintFactory Software Manager
- Click on Settings Button
- Replace the old IP address with the new IP address you found above
- Save the settings and restart PrintFactory if needed
Note: In most cases, PrintFactory should automatically find the new license server without manual IP configuration. Only follow the IP update steps if you're experiencing connection issues.
