Understanding Cleanup Options in the RIP

When cleaning jobs in the RIP, the outcome depends on which options you select.

Clean up PDF Jobs

Options:

  • Retain

  • Delete after Printing

  • Delete after: X days

Behaviour

  • Jobs remain available in the RIP queue.

  • They can be sent to the printer again without re-ripping.

  • They cannot be reopened in Layout or Editor for changes.

Use this when you want fast reprints without needing to process the job again.

Clean up Print Jobs

Options:

  • Retain

  • Delete after Printing

  • Delete after: X days

Behaviour

  • Jobs remain visible in the RIP.

  • They must be re-ripped before printing again.

  • They can be reopened and edited in Layout or Editor.

Use this when you need the ability to make changes before reprinting.

If Both Are Cleaned

If both PDF Jobs and Print Jobs are deleted (either after printing or after X days):

  • The job is fully removed from the RIP.

  • It is no longer available for printing or editing.
