Resolving RIP Crash or License Activation Issues After Update to 6.8.1 Due to Faulty MSVCP140.dll

If you encounter issues such as PrintFactory RIP crashing or the license failing to activate after an update (in V6.8.1), this may be due to an error with the MSVCP140.dll file. You can confirm this by checking the Event Viewer for a fault message similar to the one below:

Faulting application name: RIP.exe, version: 6.8.1.11837, time stamp: 0x665681e7
Faulting module name: MSVCP140.dll, version: 14.32.31326.0, time stamp: 0x7255e0ca
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000013278
Faulting process id: 0x1b4c
Faulting application start time: 0x01dab2c3912f3d91
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\PrintFactory\RIP.exe

'Symptoms
The error can lead to two primary behaviors:

RIP crashing upon opening.
License failing to activate due to the License Server failing to stay open.
An additional error may appear with a fault message pointing to SoftwareManager instead of RIP. In this case, the license activation will not proceed.

  4. Download Link for Visual C++ Redistributable
  5. Restart PC
  6. Once installed, rectivate or restart the PrintFactory RIP application to check if the issue is resolved
