Spot color black generation options

Spot color black generation options

VISU profiles allow very detailed control on how spot colors are calculated as they are calculated independently from the profile.
The following settings can be defined using the options button in the lower right corner of the Spot Color list in Calibrator:
  • Black start: Defines the black start point
  • Black max: The maxium amount of black allowed in spot colors
  • Optimize black channel: Allows the spot color to have increased black
  • Hi-res gradation: When a spot color is out-of-gamut then this option is off then it will calculate the closest match of the spot color and when break-downs are calculated they are relative to the found match. So gradations will look equally spaced. Using hi-res gradations it will calculate the break-downs individually. As long the break downs are in-gamut you'll get accurate colors, but all out-of-gamut break downs will all map the more-or-less the same point.
  • Method: Allows to select different strategies for calculating the spot color accuracy and how to map out-of-gamut colors.
  • Force TAC: Ensures that the spot color will not exceed the TAC, even if a better match is in reach.
