Spot Colors

Spot Colors

A key feature in PrintFactory is the precise spot color processing. In digital production, spot colors such as Pantoneā„¢, DIC or HKS can rarely be printed directly and nearly always need to be reproduced by the process colors of the respective printing system. With PrintFactory, spot colors can be converted into accurate process color equivalents.
All spot colors are stored in spot color libraries which provide the Lab target values. These Lab target values are used to calculate the CMYK output values on-the-fly for the printer color space of the used PMM.
For flexibility and special needs, you also have the possibility to edit spot colors. You can adjust the opacity and the LAB values. Furthermore, you can tune spot colors to improve the visual match by means of printing a visual chart with several variations of a selected spot color and then decide which patch fits best.
