Image Edit Tool 

The Image Edit tool applies automatic image adjustments to your jobs in a PrintFactory workflow. It uses predefined presets—called Image Edit scripts—to correct tone, color, brightness, and balance, or to apply special processing such as Direct‑to‑Film (DTF) underbase optimization.

Overview

Use the Image Edit tool when you need consistent image enhancement or DTF image processing across multiple jobs. By selecting an image edit preset stored in your Cloud Hub, you can standardize how photos, artwork, and transparent layers are handled before printing.

Before You Start

• Make sure your required Image Edit presets are uploaded to Cloud Hub → Resources → ImageEdit.
• If necessary, create or adjust image edit settings in the Editor using Color and Tone Adjustment tools, then save them as an Image Edit preset.

Opening the Tool

1. Open the Workflow Editor in PrintFactory.
2. Add or select the Image Edit step.
3. Click Configure to open the setup dialog.

The setup dialog lists all available Image Edit presets found in your Cloud Hub.

• Preset — Choose a preset from the drop‑down list. Each preset defines how image adjustments are applied (for example: DTF – Underbase 80%, Photo Tone – Warm, or High Contrast).
• OK — Save your selection and close the dialog.
• Cancel — Close without saving changes.

How It Works

When the workflow runs, the Image Edit step automatically applies the chosen preset to every raster image in each page of the job. Depending on the preset, this can include adjustments such as:

• Brightness and contrast correction
• Color balance or tone curve adjustments
• White underbase buildup and highlight control (for DTF workflows)
• Saturation or exposure optimization
• Shadow and highlight recovery

The processed images are saved in the job file, and updated thumbnails are generated for accurate preview and proofing.

Using Image Edit in Workflows

1. Ensure your Image Edit preset exists in Cloud Hub → Resources → ImageEdit.
2. In Workflow Editor, add the Image Edit step.
3. Click Configure and select the preset you want to apply.
4. Click OK to confirm.
5. Place the step before color management or output stages for best results.
6. Run the workflow and preview the output to verify the image adjustments.

Tips & Best Practices

• Use descriptive names for presets (e.g., “DTF White 80%” or “Photo Warm Boost”) so they are easy to identify.
• For DTF jobs, apply the Image Edit step before White Ink or Output steps to optimize the underbase.
• Keep presets synchronized across users by managing them through Cloud Hub.
• Always test new presets on sample jobs before applying them to production workflows.
• Combine with a Color Management step for predictable printed color results.
