Notify as printed when job is sent
Overview
Some printers don’t send feedback confirming when a job has actually finished printing.
The new “Notify as printed when job is send” option ensures that PrintFactory still records your production data accurately, even when printer feedback isn’t available.
When this option is enabled, PrintFactory will automatically mark a job as printed as soon as it’s sent to the printer. This allows the job’s ink and media usage to be included in your analytics — giving you a complete picture of production activity.
Access this option in the printers configuration options. Double click the printer name in your RIP to open up these options.
How It Works
When you enable “Notify as printed when job is sent”:
-
Each job is automatically marked as printed once it is dispatched to the printer.
-
The system assumes the job was successfully produced.
-
Ink and media usage data for that job are added to PrintFactory’s analytics.
-
The printer’s confirmation or feedback is not required for the job to appear in reports.
Why Use This Option
Enable this option if your printer:
-
Does not provide job status updates or feedback to PrintFactory.
-
Sends jobs successfully but they never appear as “printed” in your analytics.
-
Needs accurate ink and media usage tracking despite limited communication.
Important Notes ⚠️
-
Reprinting directly from the printer’s DFE (without sending the job again through PrintFactory) will not be counted in analytics.
-
Only enable this option if your printer does not report back job completion status — if it already provides feedback, this setting should remain off.
-
Once enabled, each job sent from PrintFactory will be recorded as printed immediately upon dispatch.
